Summer 2024 has turned out to be quite a rollercoaster for everyone in the Sawtooths, including for us at the Sawtooth Association. Between a late start at Redfish Visitor Center in June, followed by the Bench Lake Fire evacuation of the Visitor Center in July, and now the Wapiti Fire evacuation of the Stanley Museum in August, it’s been a lot of pivoting! Throughout it all our small crew has continued to assist and educate visitors to the valley with smiles and positive attitudes.
Since 1972, the Sawtooth Interpretive and Historical Association has been helping the USFS connect people to place through educational programming and historical preservation in the Sawtooth NRA. We serve over 20,000 visitors every summer at the Stanley Museum, Redfish Visitor Center, and at trailheads and in campgrounds. We explain regulations and current conditions, deepen understanding and awareness of wildlife and ecology, and ensure visitors have the information they need to have a safe and positive experience while recreating in the mountains.
We’re a small organization with a big job to do, and we’re extremely grateful to all of you who have contributed, recently or in the past, to help us achieve our mission. There’s no denying that being closed at one facility or another throughout this summer has impacted us financially though. So today, we are asking you to consider giving what you can, to help us continue to serve the Sawtooth and Salmon River country in the future.

Pick your favorite way, and give today! If you know someone else who has been positively impacted by our work, or loves the Sawtooths as much as we do, please share those links and let’s see what we can do together to help SIHA reach even more visitors in 2025!
